Chemical & Petrochemical

Chemical-resistant coatings for tanks, pipelines and reactors handling aggressive and corrosive substances.

Our Expertise

Chemical and petrochemical plants require lining systems selected for continuous exposure to aggressive media. Induscoat specifies chemical-resistant linings and cold-curing epoxy repairs for flange faces, pump casings and heat exchanger tube-sheets. Each system is checked against the actual fluid, concentration, temperature and cyclic conditions, then applied under a documented quality plan.

Key Challenges We Solve

  • Tank and reactor lining (full pH range)
  • Flange face and gasket surface repair
  • Heat exchanger tube-sheet sealing
  • Secondary containment and bund lining
Equipment

Equipment We Protect

  • Above-ground storage tanks (vertical)
  • Reactors and pressure vessels
  • Heat exchangers and tube-sheets
  • Process piping and flange faces
  • Secondary containment bunds and trenches
Constraints

Operational Constraints

  • Continuous exposure to aggressive chemistry across the full pH range
  • Temperature cycling from cryogenic to high-temperature service
  • Strict HSE compliance under ATEX and confined-space protocols
  • Short shutdown windows with mandatory LEL clearance before entry
Products

Recommended Products & Brands

  • Epoxy or vinyl ester lining selected for the service chemistry
  • Chemical-resistant lining for tank and vessel internals
  • Repair compound for flange-face and tube-sheet restoration
Shutdowns

Types of Shutdowns

  • Planned turnaround (every 3–5 years, 14–30 days)
  • Catalyst regeneration or replacement shutdown
  • Emergency shutdown on leak detection or LEL alarm
Risk mitigation

Risks We Help You Avoid

  • Environmental contamination from lining failure
  • Product contamination through cross-leakage
  • Personnel exposure to hazardous process media
  • Regulatory non-compliance penalties (CSA Z94, OSHA PSM)

Sector FAQ

Which coatings resist acids and bases in chemical plants?

Chemical compatibility must be checked against the fluid, concentration, temperature and service cycles. Induscoat then selects a novolac epoxy, vinyl ester or other appropriate barrier system using the available technical documentation.

Do you work in ATEX-classified zones?

Yes. Cold-curing composites (cold bonding) enable repairs in ATEX zones without hot-work permits. We follow site HSE protocols, work permits and risk analyses for every refinery or petrochemical intervention in Canada.

Do you repair heat exchangers in chemical plants?

Yes. We rebuild tube sheets, water boxes and flange faces attacked by galvanic corrosion, with no welding or heat treatment. The ceramic-epoxy topcoat then protects against cooling-water erosion and chemical attack. See our dedicated heat exchanger repair page.
